MORE ABOUT TANYA

Kingwood is my hometown!

I’m intimately connected to Kingwood – I grew up here!

My family moved here when I was just 18 months old. Slightly later in life I attended Kingwood Township School, and I graduated from Del Val High School.

My choice to return to Kingwood a few years after graduating college was an easy decision.  I wanted to be near my family, and my husband Jim and I decided there was no better place to raise our children. And we still believe that!

Our dedication to Kingwood is a family affair.  We met as volunteer members of Kingwood First Aid and Rescue Squad many, many years ago.  We also served together on the township fire company.  Jim is a past Chief and past President, as well as the current Deputy Chief of Kingwood Township Volunteer Fire Company.  He has served the Kingwood Community on the fire company for more than 20 years.  Jim is also a life member of Kingwood First Aid and Rescue Squad.

I’m dedicated to Kingwood’s kids!

  • For nine years, I was a room parent for my daughter’s class at Kingwood Township School.
  • Throughout the nine years our daughter attended KTS, I was an active member of the PTA.
  • Additionally, I am a volunteer Girl Scout leader (for more than nine years), working closely with scouts, parents, and our local Girl Scout leadership team.
  • I was a regular attendee of the KTS Board of Education meetings while my daughter was a student there.

And now …

  • I’m proud to continue to serve the Del Val community as a volunteer officer and member of the Performing Arts Boosters at Del Val High School.
  • I have both educational and real-life experience providing a superior education for all children.
  • I earned a B.A. from York College in Elementary Education, and I have more than 20 years of classroom experience teaching Kindergarten, First Grade, and Third Grade.

I cannot think of a better way to give back, to the community I grew up in and am proud to call home,

than to serve, as a volunteer, on the Board of Education!
